Western Rendezvous Gatherings

The Western Rendezvous was launched in September 1994, with a gathering at the Penrose House at the Broadmoor in Colorado Springs, Colorado. A second "rendezvous" was held in Keystone, Colorado in 1995. Additional rendezvous may be held in the future. The rendezvous are informal gatherings of a widely diverse group of western citizens, policy makers and activists. Models for the rendezvous include the historic "Chautauqua" gatherings of the early 20th century, and the "Renaissance Weekends" hosted by the Clintons for East Coast citizens in South Carolina. The Western Rendezvous was conceived as a non-partisan event, designed to restore a sense of western community and western civility. Guided by a non-partisan steering committee, he two-three day events are designed as a cultural and political ‘potpourri’ with topics selected from all areas of public and private life. Because of the growing complexity of Rocky Mountain regional issues, and the strong western legacy, CRM believes that these occasional regional gatherings fill an important gap in our social discourse and strengthen the bonds of western citizens to the region, and to one another.
